“I don’t like getting my picture taken.” Does this sound familiar? I’ve been hearing this for 32 years. Most people will tell me “I don’t look good in photos”. It’s not your job to look good in photos, it’s my job to make you look good.
Too often when someone is taking your photo, the photographer doesn’t always care whether you look good or not. The person behind the camera has to care about making you look great as much as you do. They have to take their time, find the best angles, create a lighting plan just for you. They need to care about enhancing your brand, getting you better job opportunities, and greater social prospects.
There’s no such thing as being “photogenic”. It’s my job to help you look your best in your headshots. I do that by coaching you on expression, posture, pose and stance. I teach my customers how to be photographed well. My training and encouragement empowers them and the confidence that comes from success shows in every headshot.

“Dean's personal approach made me feel at ease and allowed me to enjoy the experience of getting a professional headshot. The whole photo shoot was fun and easy, and Dean had great ideas and suggestions for getting the most pleasing photos. He promptly provided proofs to review, and the resulting pictures are FANTASTIC!!! I could not be happier with my experience working with him and plan to shoot with him again in the near future.”
-Ron Herman, Herman Photo Tours, May 2019

“Had a wonderful time with Dean--I had never gotten a professional headshot before, and he made me laugh, smile, and learn how to pose. I was nervous initially, but then I felt very comfortable, and the photos came out exactly the way I wanted them to. Very happy with the result, and very grateful to him! You will not find a more experienced, creative, and thoughtful photographer.”

Does your headshot work as hard as you?
Is your headshot lazy? Is it outdated? Cropped out of a snapshot from your cousin’s wedding? A bathroom selfie? That’s a bad headshot. Bad headshots misrepresent your professionalism, drive and commitment. Your headshot should be working as hard as you are to advance your career, create new opportunities and increase your success.
Your headshot should represent you as the ambitious professional you are. Whenever somebody clicks on your website or social media profile your headshot should show you looking professional, authentic, enthusiastic and engaged, representing you to every potential employer, client or prospect as confident and an asset to any project or workforce. Search LinkedIn or Google, and ask yourself if the photos everybody sees of you are helping you advance your career, or hurting your prospects?
Give me a call, shoot me an email, or come down to my Palo Alto Headshot Studio and let’s talk about putting your headshots to work for you.
“I'm not very photogenic and don't usually enjoy being photographed, so I was a bit nervous when I came in; but Dean's enthusiasm and warm personality helped me to relax and enjoy the process. He is fun and personable and very easy to work with.”
-Don Wheatly, Attorney, May 2019
“It is real pleasure to work with Dean. He makes a photo session very nice, relaxed and pleasant experience. Professional make up and sophisticated lightening ensure great results. I received a lot of compliments about my head shots and my marketing materials looks better than ever!”
-Natalie Miner, LAc, Acupuncturist, March 2019
“Dean is an excellent photographer. He does a great job at making you feel at ease, which translated into more "natural" looking photos for me. He's definitely entertaining and knows his stuff. He also took the time to have a pre-shoot call to discuss expectations and gave me some good advice on what clothing to wear. I am very happy with the results and would recommend him to anyone looking.”
