Differentiation - Expression Coaching
It’s not your job to look good in your photos. It’s my job to make you look good.
Celebrities always look so good in their headshots and on the cover of magazines because they have been taught how to be photographed well.
The first few minutes of my headshot sessions are all about training. I train my customers how to be photographed well: address the camera, position their head to look their best, etc. Meanwhile, I’m learning how to photograph them. I look for their “good side,” learn how they respond to my directions, and figure out how to help them express themselves authentically. Some people respond to jokes, talk about their kids, or maybe their time in college.
Michael Swartzberg, CFO. Kindness, confidence, and optimism are his most appealing character traits.
Once people see how great they look on camera, everyone wants to take more photos. That’s when the magic happens, and people get better photos than they’ve ever had before.
By coaching my customers this way, I help them become actively engaged collaborators in creating their headshots. Executives generally feel a lot better about being photographed when they can control the results, and it shows.
They feel confident that their headshots are spectacular not by accident but because they made them so—this sense of accomplishment and confidence in a job well-done shows in every one of their photos.
